With a gusto, the wind comes, lifting up all the dead leaves and accumulated litter of the previous months. With an effortless motion, all the trees are brought to order, forced to heave under its command. With a flick of its hand, Wind silences all the candles, all the electricity and all the bonfires. It’s time.

Far too long have humans sullied the atmosphere under the pretext of festivals. Far too many crackers have been allowed to burst in the bosom of the sky. Such churlish behaviour, such insubordination! Surely it can’t be left unpunished,

And the Tempest spoke, “Kneel in fear, for I am come. Shut yourself inside your burrows, for I fear no one”. Some laughed, some cowered, but most paid no heed. Some even dared to continue their war on the sky, launching repeated foreheads for their enjoyment.

The gale abated but for a moment, the clouds grew silent just yet, and it seemed as if it was over. Far too often have humans undermined the silence before the storm, and this was one of those days.

A blinding flash of lightning brighter than a thousand suns, a boom of thunder louder than a thousand sonic jets, a gust of wind faster than a cheetah and a wave of rain enveloped the earth. The Tempest had spoken, and with a force hitherto unseen. Trees uprooted, utility poles pillaged, decorations ripped to shreds, and windows shattered.

Having established its authority, The Tempest bade farewell for the year, leaving in its wake rain, snow and hail. It didn’t take more than half an hour for it to teach the humans the lesson…

Repeated assaults on the sky will not be tolerated, there will be a reckoning. The apes may forget it come next year but they’ll be taught a lesson again for The Tempest is the most patient and fair teacher there ever was, or will be.
